In order to create the poster, the ghost was made based on the original sketch, using multiple ellipses, filters, the erasing tool (to give it a faded appearance) and layer styles. The hands were made by editing multiple photos of reaching hands to look like they were the hands of spirits using layer styles and blending modes. They were also made to be slightly transparent so that they would look more spirit-like while remaining bold enough to stand out.
The hands, as well as the ghost, are the two most successful components of the poster. The ghost was entirely original, and came out looking like a legitimate cartoon character. The hands are perfect due to the fact that they look completely different from the normal human hands from which they originated. Being recolored and using various effects on them, they also look unreal and cartoon-like. They also grab the attention of people looking at it because of the contrasting pale blue of the ghost and dark colors of the hands. However, the font used in the title could have been better by finding something softer and more child-like. The spacing and positioning of the elements of the poster could have been improved in order to find a better location for the tagline.
The final poster had a different title, tagline, and leading actors from the original sketch. A major change from the sketch was the ghost itself. Originally, it was drawn as a ball-shaped "spirit", the way that spirits are commonly portrayed in cartoons or anime as will-o-wisps. In the final poster, it was turned into a more Casper-like ghost, to make it into more of a real character than children could get attached to or remember. The addition of the heart was also different from the sketch, and was accompanied by the change in the tagline. The original title was simply "Ghost", but a title including the name of the main character was more suitable in order to make it more memorable for people seeing the poster.
